| موضوع: INTERRELATION BETWEEN ADIPONECTIN AND SOME METABOLIC HORMONES by Dr Khaled Abulfadle الثلاثاء نوفمبر 09, 2010 5:40 am | |
| ABSTRACT Background: Adiponectin is an adipokine secreted mainly from visceral adipose tissue. Studies investigated the relation of diabetes, thyroid disorders and adrenal cortex dysfunction to adiponectin in human subjects and rats are contradictory. Objective: To demonstrate the interrelation between adiponectin and some metabolic hormones like insulin, glucocorticoids and thyroid hormones. Design: 130 adult male albino rats were divided into five major groups: the control (C) group, the diabetic group which was subdivided into a diabetic untreated (DU) group and a diabetic insulin treated (DT) group, the adrenal studied group which was subdivided into an experimental hypercortism (HC) group and an experimental hypocortism (LC) group, the thyroid studied group which was subdivided into an experimental hyperthyroidism (HT) group and an experimental hypothyroidism (LT) group and the rosiglitazone treated group. Results: Serum adiponectin level was decreased in untreated sterptozotocin induced diabetes in comparison with the control group. In thyroid studied groups, there was a significant decrease in serum adiponectin in hypothyroidism but, a significant increase in its level in hyperthyroidism in comparison with the control group. In adrenal studied groups, there was a significant decrease in serum adiponectin level in both hypercortism and hypocortism in comparison with the control group. Conclusion: there were some sort of interactions between adiponectin and insulin, glucocorticoids and thyroid hormones and these interactions need further work to assess. Key Words: Adiponectin, Rosiglitazone, Dexamethazone, Thyroxine, Metyrapone.
